Sekou Sylla

Company Profile

Sekou Sylla was a principle dancer, acrobat and musician with Les Ballet Africains, the National Dance Company of the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, until he relocated to Massachusetts in 1996. Sekou has taught and performed all over the world including Africa, Australia, Europe, Spain, Korea, Finland, France, England, Mexico and North and South America and recently taSekou Sylla dancingught African dance in Brazil at Melé deBalé and at the Universidade Federal da Bahia.

He currently teaches African Dance at Mt. Holyoke College and Greenfield Community College. Sekou personally received an outstanding review in the New York Times during his work with Les Ballet Africains. He speaks English, and is fluent in French, and his tribal languages Sou Sou and Malinke. He has appeared in film, videos and recorded tapes and CD's. Sekou Sylla is in demand as a musician, dancer and choreographer.

Since the fall of 1997 Sekou also has been presenting school performances and concerts with Tony Vacca and World Rhythms.
